''Catching Hell", Steve Bartman's mistake
On Tuesday, ESPN aired a documentary about the 2003 NLCS Chicago Cubs vs. the Florida Marlins game. What made this game so interesting is Steve Bartman interfered with a foul ball left fielder Moises Alou clearly could have caught without the fan interference. Fans believe if Bartman did not interfere with that ball, the Cubs would have won game 6 and would have gone on to their first World Series since 1908. Most Cubs fans believe the organization is cursed because in the early 1900's the organization would not allow a man with his goat into the game. The man with the goat told the organization that he will put a curse on the club house and the Cubs will never win a championship again. Flash foward to 2003 the Cubs were on their way to winning a World Series if it was not for the Bartman incident. What is interesting after that fan interference play, the Cubs second baseman missed played a routine double play and allowed the Marlins to tie up the game. No fans blame the second baseman but looked to scape goat the loss on Bartman. Six fans went for that foul ball, but Bartman was the one that last touched the ball. After that play concluded, people began to throw beer and garbage in the stadium at Bartman. Also people began to chant "asshole" at Bartman. Bartman just took the critcism, staring blankly with his head phones on until he was escorted out. It was sad to see what happened to Bartman that fateful day in 2003. He was just a Cubs fan looking to see his favorite team make a historic run to the World Series. Steve Bartman's life will be forever changed.

Italian basketball team still eyeing Kobe
Kobe Bryant was offered a one year contract by the Italian basketball team, Virtus Bologna, worth $5 million. Seeing that the NBA is still on lock out, Vitrus hopes the Lakers star will agree to the deal before he arrives to Italy this week for a tour. Knowledge outside the organization said an unidentified company is providing for the deal. Kobe spent his youth in Italy when his father played overseas, and Bryant can also speak Italian. From all this, Bologna hopes Kobe will return to Italy for sentimental reasons.

Red Sox pitcher served 'papers'
Before the Red Sox played the Orioles Tuesday night, Red Sox pitcher Erik Bedard was served papers in a child support case. The Massachusetts Probate Court served Bedard the papers at Fenway Park at 3 PM before the game. To make matters worse the papers were served by lifelong Yankees fan, Tom Cabral, on behalf of Bedard's ex-girlfriend Courtney Roberts. The Red Sox/ Yankees rivalry dates back to the early 1900's when the Red Sox traded their then star, Babe Ruth, to the Yankees organization. The Red Sox organization was very cooperative with Cabral serving the papers the day Bedard started because that was the day Bedard's ex-girlfriend wanted the papers served. Right off the bat Cabral told Bedard he was a Yankee fan and did not want to start a problem and had to due this. Bedard shrugged it off and signed the papers. This was one of the final headaches for the Red Sox seeing the organization is 5-15 in September with Tampa Bay gaining the Red Sox in the AL Wild Card Race. Hopefully the "Bo Sox" can pull it together.

Vick's status uncertain due to concussion
Michael Vick's status for the Eagles is uncertain after the 35-31 loss to Atlanta last night. Vick was injured when he spun around and was hit into right tackle Todd Herremans. The Eagles athletic trainer stated that Vick is "very far along" with his concussion symptoms, but does not know when Vick will return. After sustaining the injury last night, Vick wanted to go back into the game but coaches would not allow him. Vick's back up quarterback Vince Young was also hurt and could not go in. This left Mike Kafka to play and had impressive last drive until Jeremy Maclin dropped a ball on 4th down and four.

Lebron James and Dwayne Wade taking "shots" towards each other via Twitter
Fans of Miami Heat and of Dwayne Wade and Lebron James can laugh at the teammates tweets that were sent back and forth to each other. The tweets were jokes toward James and Wade poking fun at various things about themselves. Luckily, they were only jokes not hateful tweets toward one another. The two teammates actually get along quite well and love to joke. For example, last NBA finals James and Wade were caught on camera coughing and saying they were sick, like there opponent Dirk Nowitzki. Though a mean joke Lebron and D-Wade love to have a little fun and blow off steam through there comments. James' tweet at D-Wade stated, "What do Ronald Mcdonald and Dwayne Wade have in common? They're both 6'2 and wear a 20 size shoe. I think this is very humorous and love to see athletes take friendly shots at one another.

Pitt star Dorin Dickerson signs with Pittsburgh Steelers 'practice squad'
Being from Imperial, PA and southwest Pennsylvania, Friday nights were dedicated to West Allegheny football. Attending West Allegheny football games, as a student, was very humbling because I got to see local sport stars, such as Tyler Palko and Dorin Dickerson. The first time I saw Dorin Dickerson I was in 8th grade and was amazed what this player could do as a senior in high school. Dorin played both sides of the ball and had amazing talent on both sides. Though at the University of Pittsburgh he had trouble finding his niche in the organization. Finally, as a tight end he caught 45 passes for 508 yards and 10 touchdowns and was an All-American. Dickerson was a 7th-round pick in 2010 to the Houston Texans, but was cut this past year. I am thankful to see this athlete return to southwest Pennsylvania and hopefully get to play for the Steelers. Hopefully he can play to the ability he did in high school and college.
