Kobe Bryant was offered a one year contract by the Italian basketball team, Virtus Bologna, worth $5 million. Seeing that the NBA is still on lock out, Vitrus hopes the Lakers star will agree to the deal before he arrives to Italy this week for a tour. Knowledge outside the organization said an unidentified company is providing for the deal. Kobe spent his youth in Italy when his father played overseas, and Bryant can also speak Italian. From all this, Bologna hopes Kobe will return to Italy for sentimental reasons.

Kobe seems to be extremely interested in the thought of going back to Italy and playing ball. He feels like it's his second home, and the deal would allow him to return to the Lakers immediately if the lockout would end. This would also make Kobe more of a global player as Italy would see one of our biggest basketball stars first-hand. I'm all for him playing in Italy if that's what he truly wants to do.
